Our story

About Sunset

Cemetery management software built by people who run cemeteries — and who already connect funeral, vault, and floral work across one family of tools.

Our Mission

Cemeteries deserve modern, calm software that helps them focus on what matters most — caring for grounds and serving families with dignity.

At Sunset, our mission is to bring spaces, ownership, sales, and interments into one clear, web-based platform that cemetery staff can trust every day.

Built by cemetery and funeral professionals, for cemetery professionals. Sunset was designed by people who understand the unique workflows of memorial grounds — not generic business software dressed up for death care.

Built for the work, and the weight of it

Cemetery operations are detailed, regulated, and deeply personal. We build Sunset so the software stays quiet in the background — tracking spaces, chain of title, sales, and interments reliably.

That means less time hunting paper files and more time where it counts: on the grounds, with the families who are counting on you.

The LarkTek Journey: Why Sunset Exists

  • A vision of integration

The seeds of LarkTek were planted in the 1980s. While still in college, and carrying on the family legacy in funeral service, Lance Larkin explored a bold idea: vertical integration across the profession. Over the following decades, the Larkin family expanded — floral shops, vault and headstone operations, and cemeteries including Larkin Sunset Lawn and Larkin Sunset Gardens.

  • Outgrowing siloed tools

As the business grew, so did the complexity. Custom databases and third-party systems helped for a time, but none let mortuary, floral, monument, and cemetery divisions speak to one another. Re-entry, mismatched records, and fragile handoffs became the cost of growth.

  • Building the connected stack

The next generation brought modern engineering home. LarkTek built Kindred for funeral case management, Petra for vault and headstone operations, and Orkyd for floral fulfillment — so each division could run on software shaped for its work, while sharing one connected spine.

  • Sunset: cemeteries in the ecosystem

Sunset was born from a practical need: connecting Larkin Sunset Lawn and Larkin Sunset Gardens with Kindred cases, Petra vault and marker work, and Orkyd floral orders — without losing the cemetery’s own inventory, ownership, and interment truth. What started as the missing cemetery piece of our own stack is now Sunset Cemetery Software for peer cemeteries who want the same clarity.

Independent & family-owned

We answer to the families you serve — and no one else.

Sunset is built by LarkTek, an independent, family-owned software company. There's no venture capital steering our roadmap and no private-equity owner counting quarters — so the only people we work to satisfy are the cemeteries who trust us.

LarkTek is the Larkin family's software company — and that same family has cared for grieving families at Larkin Mortuary for 141 years. We build Sunset to that same standard: the highest quality of service, and a dedication that outlasts any contract.
